Odisha to Inaugurate First Narco Analysis Test Center at Capital Hospital

Odisha is set to establish its first narco analysis test center, bringing a significant development for law enforcement agencies in the region. Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar will serve as the testing facility for narco tests in Odisha and beyond.
All the necessary equipment has already arrived at the State Forensic Science Laboratory and will be transferred to the Operation Theatre (OT) of Capital Hospital, where the narco tests will be conducted. Psychiatrists and anesthetists from the hospital are currently undergoing training for this purpose.
The narco analysis tests are scheduled to commence as early as next month, as confirmed by Director of Capital Hospital, Laxmidhar Sahu. This initiative is welcomed by law enforcement, as it addresses the need for a local narco test center, which was evident during the Naba Das murder case investigation when the accused had to be taken to Pune for the test.
Forensic expert Muralidhar Nayak highlighted the significance of this milestone in crime investigation, as it expands the capabilities beyond polygraph or lie detection tests, benefiting not only Odisha but also neighboring states
