PM Modi Speech Today Live Updates: The INDIA bloc’s no-confidence motion was defeated in the Lok Sabha today following a walkout by the Opposition parties during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech. PM Modi, during his over two-hours-long speech, besides leading a tirade against the Opposition parties, vowed to bring peace to the northeastern state at the earliest. “The central and state governments are working day and night to punish the accused and bring back peace to the state. I want to reassure the people of Manipur that the entire country stands with them,” PM Modi said.

Meanwhile, Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has been suspended over “gross misconduct”. The suspension will be in place till the Privileges Committee submits its report.

Earlier in the day, a verbal duel broke out in the Lok Sabha today as senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury called the violence in Manipur a civil war in the country and questioned the PM’s silence over the matter, BJP MP Jyotiraditya Scindia reminded the House of the countless clashes and deaths in the northeastern state during the Congress’s rule.
