Neeraj Chopra, the Asian Games Gold medalist and current Olympic and World Champion in men’s javelin, has been appointed as a Laureus Ambassador. His association with Laureus began in 2022 when he was shortlisted for the Breakthrough of the Year award at the Laureus World Sports Awards, following his historic gold medal win at the Tokyo Olympics, making him the first Indian track and field athlete to achieve this feat.

Neeraj’s interest in Laureus grew as he learned more about this athlete-led organization that celebrates the transformative power of sports. In his role as a Laureus Ambassador, he commits to supporting Laureus Sport for Good.

Expressing his feelings about this appointment, Neeraj Chopra said, “It’s a great honor for me to become a Laureus Ambassador. I look forward to using my platform and the influence of sports to make a positive impact on young people in India and worldwide. The history of legends who have been part of this program and their contributions to the world is truly inspiring. I share the belief that sports can change the world. I’ve heard about the various programs that Laureus supports in India, and the stories of their impact remind me of the many ways we can help young people. As an athlete, I understand the significant role that sports can play in these stories. With people showing more interest in my sport than ever before, I believe that by collaborating with Laureus Sport for Good, I can use this platform to make a difference in people’s lives.
