Radio jockey Rajesh had got a whiff of a sinister plot. Strange men had been hanging around his sound recording studio at Madavoor village in Thiruvananthapuram rural district, but he could never have guessed the tragedy that would befall him.
On March 27, 2018, he was planning to leave for Chennai to meet a woman, who was flying down from Qatar. But early that morning, Rajesh, then 35, was hacked to death by three members of a gang, allegedly put to work by the woman’s estranged husband.
Five years on, a sessions court in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday sentenced two persons, Muhammed Salih and Appuni, to life imprisonment for Rajesh’s murder. They also have to pay a fine of Rs 2.4 lakh to his family.
