India Squad Announced for T20I Series Against Bangladesh

2 min read

The BCCI has officially announced the Indian squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, scheduled to take place from October 6. Leading the team will be Suryakumar Yadav, while Mayank Yadav is set to make his debut for Team India in this series. The first match is slated for October 6, with the second on October 9, and the final match on October 12.

Suryakumar Yadav, who suffered a hand injury during the Buchi Babu Tournament, has now fully recovered and is ready to lead the Indian team. His return to full fitness is a major boost for the squad, which will look to make the most of his dynamic leadership and batting skills. Notably, mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who last played for India in 2021, is making a comeback after a gap of nearly three years. Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma have been included as wicketkeeping options. Samson, however, will be looking to bounce back after a poor run of form, having been dismissed for zero in both matches during the recent Sri Lanka series.

Mayank Yadav, who has impressed with his express pace, regularly clocking 150 km/h in the IPL 2024 while playing for Lucknow Super Giants, has been rewarded with a spot in the national team. His debut will be closely watched as he looks to make a mark at the international level. Abhishek Sharma, who was not part of the recent Sri Lanka series, also returns to the squad after his explosive century against Zimbabwe, which earned him a spot in Team India.

In the bowling department, fast bowlers Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh are set to lead the pace attack, with Shivam Dube, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Hardik Pandya providing additional all-round support. This well-rounded squad looks strong on paper, with the right mix of youth and experience.

India Team:

  • Suryakumar Yadav (Captain)
  • Abhishek Sharma
  • Sanju Samson (WK)
  • Rinku Singh
  • Hardik Pandya
  • Riyan Parag
  • Nitish Reddy
  • Shivam Dube
  • Washington Sundar
  • Ravi Bishnoi
  • Varun Chakravarthy
  • Jitesh Sharma (WK)
  • Harshit Rana
  • Arshdeep Singh
  • Mayank Yadav (Debut)

India will look to use this series as a platform to experiment with new players and fine-tune their strategies ahead of future T20I competitions. All eyes will be on Suryakumar Yadav’s leadership and how the new additions to the squad perform on the big stage.
