Bhubaneswar: November 3, 2023, The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather update for Odisha, indicating significant changes in temperature and rainfall patterns over the next week.
Over the last 24 hours, there has been a noticeable increase in minimum temperatures (night temperatures) in a few places across interior Odisha and the north coastal regions, with no significant changes elsewhere. These temperatures were marked as above normal in several places, particularly in coastal Odisha. The highest maximum temperature recorded was 34.5°C in Paradip and Sambalpur, while the lowest minimum temperature was 18.9°C in Phulbani, located in the plains of Odisha. Additionally, light to moderate rainfall was observed in select areas, including Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Rayagada, and Koraput.
The IMD’s forecast for the coming days is as follows:
Day 1 (Valid until November 4, 2023, 0830 hrs IST): Expect light rain and thunderstorms in some places in Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Boudh, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and isolated locations in the remaining districts.
Day 2 (Valid from November 4, 0830 hrs IST to November 5, 0830 hrs IST): Anticipate light to moderate rain and thunderstorms in one or two places in coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, while dry weather will prevail in other districts.
Day 3 (Valid from November 5 to November 6, 0830 hrs IST): Similar conditions are expected with rain and thunderstorms in select areas, including the districts of south coastal Odisha, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and dry weather in the remaining districts.
Day 4 (Valid from November 6 to November 7, 0830 hrs IST): Light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are likely in isolated places such as Malkangiri, Koraput, Ganjam, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Kandhamal. Dry weather will persist in other districts.
Day 5 to Day 7 (Valid from November 7 to November 10, 0830 hrs IST): Dry weather is expected to prevail across all districts of Odisha during this period.
