During the Durga Puja immersion procession in Bhubaneswar, a clash occurred in the Rasulgarh area, involving two groups, resulting in the injury of two individuals. Allegedly, an altercation led to one person attacking the other group with a sharp weapon, while this incident took place in the presence of the police. When the injured parties attempted to file a complaint at the Mancheswar Police Station, they were reportedly denied assistance. Tensions flared for a brief period, but the immersion procession eventually proceeded.
This was not the only incident of violence during immersion processions, as a police lathi charge disrupted the procession in Balasore. Despite repeated requests to cease playing loud DJ music, the situation escalated, prompting SP Sagarika Nath to order a lathi charge. Subsequently, some individuals reportedly threw stones at the police.
