STF Raids Lead to Arrest of Drug Peddlers and Seizure of Contraband in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: In response to intelligence information, a Bhubaneswar STF team conducted a raid in Khurdha on Friday, resulting in the apprehension of an elusive drug peddler named Md Sadam, the son of Md Rustam, who resides in the Danagohiri police station area in Puri district, Odisha.

Md Sadam was a fugitive linked to a case filed at the STF police station. In this particular case, on September 25, the STF confiscated 3.11 kg of brown sugar, three 7 mm pistols, seven magazines, 43 rounds of 7 mm ammunition, one blank cartridge, and other incriminating items from the suspect’s possession.

During the raid, the accused managed to evade capture. He was a significant supplier of arms and ammunition to another suspect known as Siba Prasad Das.

The accused has since been arrested and presented before the District & Sessions Judge-cum-Special Judge in Nayagarh on Saturday. An ongoing investigation is underway.

Additionally, the STF apprehended another fugitive, Chittaranjan Behera, son of Biswamohan Behera, and a resident of the Gopalprasad police station area in Nayagarh district. In this case, authorities seized 1090 grams of illicit brown sugar and other incriminating materials from the suspect’s possession. Chittaranjan Behera managed to evade capture during the raid.

The accused has also been arrested and presented before the District & Sessions Judge-cum-Special Judge in Dhenkanal on Saturday. The investigation into this case continues. Notably, the accused had previously faced charges by the Nandankanan police in Bhubaneswar under Sections 20(b)(ii)(c)/29 NDPS Act.
