Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Names Pramila Mallik as Their Choice for Odisha Assembly Speaker

Bhubaneswar: Today, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), in power, officially announced Pramila Mallik, the MLA from Binjharpur and Minister of Revenue & Disaster Management, as their nominee for the position of Odisha Assembly Speaker.
Expressing her gratitude, Pramila Mallik stated, “I am very pleased and thankful to the Chief Minister for placing trust in me.”
Mallik emphasised that the Chief Minister’s decision to nominate a woman for the role demonstrates the competency of women in leadership. She further pledged to lead the Assembly impartially, ensuring the participation of all political parties.
The election for the Speaker’s position is scheduled for September 22, with nominations due on September 21. The election will commence at 9:30 a.m. on September 22.
