2 min read

The inaugural meeting of the Policy Advocacy and Vision Group (PAVG) has set Odisha on a sustainable path, focusing on Renewable Energy (RE) policies and goals. Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena underscored the importance of timely RE policy implementation and the state’s transition to sustainable energy sources.

Jena, as the chair of the PAVG meeting, emphasized the integration of RE into Odisha’s broader energy policy to achieve increased Renewable Energy capacity by 2030. The meeting featured a presentation by GRIDCO’s Director (Fin. & CA), G.B. Swain, outlining incentives, exemptions, and the success of the single-window clearance committee system for RE projects.

As the Nodal Agency, GRIDCO has coordinated resource assessments and launched a web portal for streamlined access to services and information for developers and the public. The meeting also addressed land leasing costs, the need for a dedicated rooftop policy, EV charging infrastructure, the state’s EV policy, and future wind energy development plans. Additionally, the meeting prioritized the consolidation of various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) involved in RE project implementation.

The Government of Odisha has formed the PAVG, consisting of intellectuals, professionals, and practitioners from various fields to advise on policy-related issues. GRIDCO serves as the secretariat for the PAVG, playing a crucial role in recommending priority areas for RE technology adoption, the formation of Special Task Forces, and promoting RE project development in the state.

Notable members of the PAVG, including Development Commissioner Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary Nikunja Bihari Dhal, Principal Secretary Vishal Kumar Dev, and industry experts like Dr. Praveer Sinha and Rajesh Srivastava, attended the meeting and actively participated in discussions.
