Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has given his approval for 429 road projects valued at Rs 39.25 crore in residential colonies located in Bhubaneswar, Balianta, and Jatni blocks. The decision followed a visit to Khurda district on August 23, during which residents from these areas raised concerns about road and electricity issues with 5T Secretary VK Pandian.
In response to these concerns, a professional team was dispatched to investigate, identifying 429 roads covering over 82 km in these areas. After receiving their report, discussions were held with the residents on September 27, resulting in the Chief Minister’s approval for the construction, improvement, and electrification of these 429 road projects.
Smart City Bhubaneswar has been rapidly expanding into Jatni and Balianta areas, leading to the demand for better internal roads and electrification in residential colonies. Of the approved projects, 140 are in the Bhubaneswar block, 246 in the Jatni block, and 43 in the Balianta block. These projects are expected to benefit more than 3 lakh people, with a directive to complete them within three months given by the Chiefyy Minister.
