Health Minister’s Big Announcement: Medical Colleges in Every District of the State

Bhubaneswar: The state government is taking a significant step toward expanding healthcare education, with a promise to establish medical colleges in all districts. Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling made this major announcement during a recent event in Bhubaneswar. At present, the state has 11 medical colleges, and two more colleges in Talcher and Kandhamal are in the pipeline.

According to the minister, the construction of these two new medical colleges is expected to begin soon. This move aims to increase the accessibility of medical education across Odisha and improve healthcare services in underdeveloped regions.

Additionally, the Health Department is making arrangements to address the shortage of teaching staff in medical colleges. Minister Mahaling confirmed that efforts are underway to appoint qualified professors and lecturers. Furthermore, the Odisha University of Health Sciences Vice-Chancellor stated that retired experienced doctors will be engaged to teach at various medical colleges. Plans are being developed in collaboration with the Health Department, and final decisions will be made after discussions with the concerned authorities.

This initiative is a significant milestone in the state’s healthcare education sector, with the aim of producing more skilled medical professionals and enhancing the overall healthcare system.
