Drunk flyer on New York to Delhi American Airlines flight urinates on fellow passenger

A drunk passenger on an American Airlines flight from New York to New Delhi allegedly urinated on a fellow passenger, said a report by PTI. A source at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport told PTI that the accused was taken into custody once the flight landed.
The AA292 American Airlines flight took off from New York at 9:16 pm on Friday and landed after 14 hours and 26 minutes at Delhi’s IGI airport at 10:12 pm on Saturday.
The accused is allegedly a student at a US university and he urinated while he was asleep in a drunken state. “It somehow leaked and fell on a fellow passenger who complained to the crew,” a source at the airport told PTI.
The student then apologised and the male victim was not keen on reporting the matter. However, the crew came to know about the incident and they informed the pilot, who then reported it to the Air Traffic Control (ATC) at the IGI airport.
The ATC alerted the CISF personnel who handed over the accused passenger to the Delhi Police.
This comes months after a similar incident took place in November 2022 where a drunk man — Shankar Mishra — allegedly urinated on an elderly woman on board an Air India flight from New York to New Delhi. An FIR was lodged after the incident came to light a month later.
Mishra was arrested and he was released on bail after nearly a month in jail.
The DGCA imposed a fine of Rs 30 lakh on Air India for not reporting the matter within 12 hours of the incident. Mishra was also banned from flying for four months.
