Odisha Police Seize Drugs Worth Rs 45 Lakh in Dramatic Border Chase
Bhubaneswar: Odisha, the police have reported a successful drug seizure operation at the Andhra-Odisha border. The incident, which occurred on the evening of September 17th in Malkangiri district, involved a high-speed chase of drug peddlers by Chitrakonda police, and the video of this pursuit has since gone viral on social media.
The operation was initiated based on intelligence received regarding an illegal contraband cannabis deal near Rekhapalli village in the Chitrakonda area. Chitrakonda police promptly responded by dispatching a team to apprehend the smugglers, who were believed to be from Andhra Pradesh.
The police pursued the smugglers’ vehicle for over 20 kilometers, leading up to the Andhra Pradesh border. In an attempt to escape, the drug peddlers threw stacks of ganja onto the road in front of the police vehicle. Ultimately, the smugglers managed to evade capture but abandoned their vehicle, which was loaded with a substantial amount of contraband ganja weighing 950 kilograms, valued at approximately Rs 45 lakh.
The ownership of the vehicle remains to be established, and a manhunt has been launched to apprehend the three accused peddlers who successfully fled the scene. A case (177/23) has been registered under sections 20(b)(ii)(C) and 25 of the NDPS Act at Chitrakonda Police Station in connection with this incident.
