Mortal remains of Veteran commentator, author and playwright Padma Shri Rajat Kumar Kar consigned to flames at Puri Swargadwar with full state honours.
Kar died at the age of 88 on Sunday while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He was admitted to the hospital after he complained of chest pain.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had mourned the death of Kar.
Born in Cuttack town to Kulamani Kar and Indumani Kar, Rajat graduated from Utkal University and later passed out from Asian Institute of Educational Planning and Administration, New Delhi.
