21 Places Of Odisha Reel Under Intense Heat Condition For Second Consecutive Day

The State turned a hot cauldron today as day temperature in 21 places was 40 degrees Celsius or above. Of them, nine places recorded maximum day temperature at 42 degrees Celsius or above.

As per the data provided by the Regional Meteorological Centre here, Sonepur was hottest in the State at 44.4 degrees Celsius. This was followed by Balangir at 44.3 degrees Celsius.

The places which recorded maximum temperature 42 degrees Celsius or above are as follows: Titlagarh – 43.5 degrees Celsius, Angul – 43.1 degrees Celsius, Boudh – 43 degrees Celsius, Jharsuguda – 42.8 degrees Celsius, Sundargarh – 42.5 degrees Celsius, Sambalpur – 42.4 degrees Celsius, and Bhawanipatna and Deogarh – 42 degrees Celsius.

The weather stations which recorded day temperature at 40 degrees Celsius or above are: Hirakud – 41.6 degrees Celsius, Baripada, Nuapada and Paralakhemundi – 41 degrees Celsius, Talcher – 40.6 degrees Celsius, Bargarh – 40.5 degrees Celsius, Keonjhar – 40.2 degrees Celsius, and Malkangiri, Dhenkanal, Bhadrak and Khordha – 40 degrees Celsius.

The meteorological centre further predicted temperature in interior parts of the State will be three to four degrees above normal in next two days.
