A day after North Korea test-fired possibly its biggest intercontinental ballistic missile, the state-run television released an edited video showing Kim Jong Un guiding the launch. The North Korean government on Friday released pictures showing Kim Jong taking stock of the launch and celebrating as it lifted off.

The latest test saw North Korea up the ante in a pressure campaign aimed at forcing the United States and other rivals to accept it as nuclear power and remove crippling sanctions. The Thursday launch saw the ICBM fly 71 minutes before possibly landing near Japanese territorial waters off the island of Hokkaido. Japan has said that it may search for debris inside its exclusive economic zone to analyze the North’s technology, he said.

The video tweeted by NK News shows Kim Jong Un walking out of the hanger of the ICBM flanked by his senior ranking military officers as he guides the launch. Other images show him walking around the Hwasong-17 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) on the launcher, at an undisclosed location.
